Why Do Ceramic Coating Companies not make SiC Coatings?

Most coatings are made with an Sio2 formula. Silicon dioxide is the backbone of the coating. It is the foundational material that actually bonds to the clear coat. There are other things in the coating as well. Mainly resins that attach the coating to the clear coat.

There are several reasons why most companies use Sio2. One reason is that most hobbyist detailers want big, giant water beads. they also want slickness. An Sio2 coating provides a warm, wax-like glow and water beading. Since the vast majority of detailers are hobbyists, they have a pretty big voice and the chemical companies are listening and give them what they want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving their customers what they want.

Another reason they use Sio2 is because it costs less to produce. What brings the price down even more in producing an Sio2 coating is using lesser quality solvents.

The third reason is because an Sio2 coating is easier to make using a standard formula. A fourth reason is because an Sio2 coating costs less to produce.

Silicon dioxide coatings certainly have their place, but just go on Amazon and you can get a consumer-grade Sio2 coating for hardly anything. They are readily available and low priced.
